The Fubon Tongshan Street Project is located in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei City, surrounded by unique cultural assets such as Japanese-style dormitories and Air Force military dependents' villages. In 2014, Fubon Life Insurance acquired the 70-year land lease and commissioned BES Engineering for construction. The project combines the use of red brick exterior walls and a simulated exposed concrete construction method, preserving and inheriting the traditional craft and cultural significance of kiln-fired red bricks in today's gradually disappearing techniques. It is currently managed by the Fubon Art Foundation.
To revitalize the declining red brick culture and sustainably inherit red brick architecture while considering safety, this project focuses on improving the seismic capacity of brick walls to enhance the structural strength and suppress efflorescence, maintaining the aesthetic and creative qualities of the exterior.
In addition to the red brick exterior walls, another feature of this project is the simulated exposed concrete construction method, known as the Chrysanthemum Water SA method. It involves mixing colored sand with a dedicated admixture and applying it in a penetrating manner to create a translucent layer with a texture similar to clear concrete.
Site Area:1,659.5 sqm
