West Bin Expressway WH10-C standard 64K+005~69K+600 main line new construction

Construction Period:

October 5, 2016-September 13, 2020

Project Cost:

Approximately NT$ 4.085 billion

Project Description

The Taoyuan to Hsinchu section of the West Coast Expressway has been under design and construction since 1996. However, due to government funding issues and public protests, only the dual carriageway and bridge crossings were completed between Guanyin and Fenggang. As the dual carriageway connects to local agricultural roads on both sides, signal-controlled intersections were installed for safety concerns, reducing the willingness of road users to utilize the roads. In 2009, the elevated sections on accident-prone stretches were initiated. The new construction project for the Guanyin to Fenggang section starts from the Guanyin Interchange of the West Coast Expressway and extends south to the southern end of the Fengbi Tunnel. The total length of this project is 20.65 kilometers, and it includes roadwork, bridge construction, earthworks, drainage, environmental protection, landscape, and lighting works.
