Project Introduction

The Heping BiHai Hydroelectric Power Plant is built on the upstream riverbed of the Heping Nanxi River at an elevation of 545 meters. It serves to regulate the flow of the upstream river and divert water through an intake on the right bank of the dam. The water is then conveyed through a 6.5-kilometer-long headrace tunnel to an underground power plant constructed in the right bank mountain at an elevation of 100 meters on the downstream of the Heping River. The power plant generates electricity, and the water is returned to the main stream of the Heping River through a 310-meter-long tailrace tunnel. The main facilities of the power plant include the Nanxi Dam, water conveyance tunnel, underground power plant, and a vertical-axis Pelton turbine generator with a capacity of 61,200 kW. This is the first time that Taiwan Power Company has adopted this type of turbine generator. The water conveyance tunnel, which is 6,549 meters long (with an inner diameter of 2.7 meters) , is part of the construction contracted by our company.
